Diocesan Media Center

The Diocesan Media Center consists of a library of video and some audio resources to be used in the process of formation and spiritual development within parishes, schools, agencies and organizations of the Diocese.

Knights of ColumbusNote:  Materials for the Media Resource Center have been purchased through the very generous support of both our local and state Knights of Columbus --- and we are exceedingly grateful!

Media Center Lending Policy (Please read in full):

Who may reserve material:
Media Center materials are available to all members of Catholic Agencies/Institutions within the Diocese of Toledo.

Cost of Reserving Material:
There is no charge for borrowing material. However, patrons will incurr the cost of returning material via shipping. If patrons are able to arrange personal delivery to the Catholic Center, there is no cost.  There will be a $20 rental fee for equipment (Digital Video Camera, LCD Projector, Video Projector).

Stewardship of Resources:
To make resources as accessible as possible, there is no longer a shipping and handling charge. However, in the spirit of stewardship, several parameters should be noted:

A.  It will be presumed that all Catholic Agencies/Institutions in the metro-Toledo area will pick-up and drop off materials at the Diocesan Media Resource Center.
B.  For those who are outside the metro-Toledo area, arranging for pick-up whenever possible is preferred to shipping.
C.  Requests for resources should not be capricious.

Reserving Items:
Normal lending period will be 2 weeks on all items (videos, books, CDs, tapes, equipment, etc.).  Exceptions may be made by calling. (e.g., Little Rock Scripture Study)

When requesting items, keep in mind that the “Check-out Date” is the date when the item(s) will be shipped or picked-up from the Diocesan Media Resource Center .  This is not necessarily the date you will receive the requested materials (unless the material is picked-up and not shipped).  The “Return Date”, which is normally 2 weeks from the Check-out Date, is the day the item(s) are expected to be back at the Diocesan Media Resource Center (not the day it is shipped from your location).

Three Methods for Reserving Material:

Method 1: (Preferred Method)
We have implimented a new online system that allows patrons to reserve material online. Patrons also will have the ability to renew material online. To be able to make online reservations, you will first have to obtain a username and password. Call or email your request.

Method 2:
Call the Media Center to reserve material.

Method 3:
Email the Media Resource Center. Make sure to include your name, contact information, Call Number & Title, and the date you would like the material (see above for details on date).

Renewing Material:
Books and Videos may be renewed for two(2) additional loan period as long as there are no requests for the item(s). Renewals may be made online or by calling the Media Resource Center.

Returning Material:
Items that are not returned in person should be sent in a manner that has a tracking system.  For example, when shipping Priority Mail, the US Postal Service provides Delivery Confirmation™ at no additional cost when printing a shipping label online.  Patrons may print a Priority Mail label by going to
http://www.usps.com/shipping/prioritymail.htm.

Fines:
Overdue items will be charged a late fee:
25¢ / day for videos, CDs, tapes, etc.
$1.00 / day for equipment

*** Until a confirmation is made, no items should be considered renewed. ***
