Advanced Catechetical Certification Program

Lay Ministry Certification Program

The Advanced Catechetical and Lay Ministry curriculum is a new three-year program. The first year (Cycle A) of this program finished in June 2011. Classes were held a the Catholic Center in Toledo.
The second year (Cycle B) begins Saturday, October 8, 2011. Classes will be held at St. Patrick Church of Heatherdowns, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. (Except for the December 17 meeting, which will be held at the Catholic Center in Toledo, 1933 Spielbusch Ave, 43604).
Class dates for the 2011-2012 school year (all Saturdays) are: Oct 8, Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 14, Feb 18, March 10, April 21, May 12, and June 9. Textbook information for the first course this year (Sacramental Theology) is posted below.
Please note that Cycle B is for both those seeking Advanced Catechetical Certification as well as Lay Ministry Certification. Tuition is $400.00 per year, or $45.00 per class meeting, paid in advance (does not include texts).

Program Overview
Advanced Catechetical Certification
Advanced Catechetical Certification (or its equivalent) is required for parish catechetical leaders and high school religion teachers (unless equivalent has been fulfilled some other way --- for example, by way of college degree in Catholic theology or catechetics, or by completion of another diocesan program. Direct inquiries in this regard to Suzie Pinkham).
Three-year curriculum for Advanced Level certification:
- First year (Cycle A) devoted to Scripture & the Profession of Faith
- Second year (Cycle B) devoted to Sacramental Theology, Moral Theology, & Spiritual Theology
- Third year (Cycle C) devoted to specialized training in catechetical ministry
- Nine-month year with classes held one Saturday per month. Meetings run 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, October through June.

Certification in Lay Ministry          Â
For an in-depth and systematic formation for lay ecclesial ministry, we offer a three-year program of studies in Scripture, theology & lay ministry. Â
Three-year curriculum for Lay Ministry Certification:
- Same as curriculum for Advanced Catechetical Certification for the first two years (Cycle A and Cycle B). However, third year (Cycle C) is devoted to specialized training in Lay Ministry
