Toledo Catholic Charities invites local agencies, families, adoption advocates, policymakers, judges and volunteers to participate in the rally from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at The Town Center at Levis Commons between Fat Fish Blue and the Hilton Garden Inn. Event organizer, Erika D. White, was adopted 40 years ago and was recently connected with her birth mother through Catholic Charities. She will share her story at the rally and speak about how adoption can change the life of child. The flash mob will take place at 2:30 p.m. with participants dancing to the song “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher” by Jackie Wilson. Approximately 100 youth are expected to participate and wear t-shirts that say “Adoption, a loving option.” Catholic Charities has facilitated domestic adoptions since 1914 and international adoptions since 1990. The organization is a licensed agency for domestic adoptions for infants age six months and younger and also facilitates international adoptions for children of all ages. Additional participating agencies include Lucas County Children’s Services, Division Foster Care of Ohio, Heartbeat of Toledo, Spirit of Faith Adoptions and Adopt America Network. In 2010, Catholic Charities served 31,000 people by providing food, shelter, prescription and emergency rent assistance as well as adoption services, jail and prison ministries and services to the elderly. The organization’s mission is to make real the love that God has for each individual person regardless of their faith or background by serving the poor, speaking for and assisting the neglected and forgotten, respecting and promoting life from beginning to end and nurturing and supporting individuals and families. ###
