DIOCESE OF TOLEDO CELEBRATES CAMPUS MINISTRY
October 7, 2011- Toledo, OH— The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo, will be the keynote speaker at the first Diocesan Campus Ministry Banquet at Bowling Green State University on Saturday, October 22, 2011 starting at 7:00 pm. The event is being co-sponsored by St. Thomas More University Parish, Bowling Green, Corpus Christi Parish, Toledo and the diocesan Office of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministry.
Bishop Blair will be speaking about how Catholic Campus Ministry impacts higher education and helps college students stay rooted in their faith and morals. According to Kathy Haninger, Coordinator of Young Adult and Campus Ministry, “Campus Ministry is vital to higher education because through dialogue and community outreach it illumines such questions as; What is life? What is my purpose? What is truth? There are a total of 14 Catholic Campus Ministries throughout the Diocese of Toledo.
Prior to the banquet, a workshop will be held for campus ministers and Catholic student organization leaders to provide education and training on evangelization. Presenters are Mary Deeley, Pastoral Associate at the Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern University, and Laura Gifford, team leader for Fellowship of Catholic University Students at the University of Kentucky.
Catholics are encouraged to attend and the cost is $25 per person. Reservations may be made by October 10, 2011 to Robert Hohler at 419-352-7555 or rhohler@sttoms.com.
