TOLEDO DIOCESE CELEBRATES THOSE IN PUBLIC SERVICE
September 30, 2010—Toledo, OH—In honor of those who serve our country, the Diocese of Toledo will be hosting a Red Mass on Sunday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo, OH. Members of local parishes that serve in any capacity of the legal profession and their family members are invited to attend. The Mass will be celebrated by his Excellency, Robert W. Donnelly, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus and will incorporate a special blessing upon all who work in the practice of law. The annual Jack Schlageter Award, named in honor of the first presiding judge of the diocese of Toledo Court of Equity, will be presented by Bishop Donnelly to attorney Paul M. Kraus. Mr. Kraus, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and is an esteemed and well-respected probate, trust and tax attorney with the firm Marshall & Melhorn, LLC.
The Mass will be followed by a coffee and doughnuts social in the auditorium.
During the last century the Red Mass has become a tradition in the United States. This service is considered an expression of appreciation for those who afford justice to all people. During the mass the Holy Spirit will be asked for guidance and direction for all those who promote justice in their daily lives especially those in legal and political professions.
