DIOCESE HOSTS DIVERSITY MASS AND FESTIVAL CELEBRATION

JULY 13, 2010—Toledo, OH—As part of the diocesan Centenary celebration, Our Lady of Consolation Basilica and National Shrine in Carey, Ohio will host a Diversity Mass and Celebration on Sunday, July 18 beginning at noon. The diocese invites you to bring your family for the Diversity Mass celebrated by Bishop Leonard P. Blair, and an afternoon of ethnic foods and cultural entertainment in the cafeteria from 1:15 – 4 p.m. There will also be a rosary procession and Eucharistic devotion at 2:30 p.m.

The general intercessions will be read in various languages reflective of the communities in the Diocese of Toledo including Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Tagalog, German and English.  The celebration will feature cultural entertainment including the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance, the Alma Dance Experience and the St. Martin de Porres Women of Grace Praise Dancers. According to Daniel Demski, Master of Ceremony for the Diversity Mass, “This day, centering on the Eucharistic Liturgy, celebrates our unity in the faith and the diversity of our people. The Diocese of Toledo has enjoyed one hundred years of tireless service from people of many ethnic backgrounds. We celebrate our accomplishments and renew our efforts to work together in building up the Kingdom of God.”

The Our Lady of Consolation Basilica and National Shrine are located at 315 Clay Street, Carey.
