TOLEDO TO HOST TEENS IN CATHOLIC WORK CAMP Â
JUNE 15--TOLEDO, OH—High School students from all parts of the country are participating in the week-long Catholic Heart Work Camp (CHWC). The Toledo camp begins Sunday June 13 and goes until Saturday June 19. The teens will be working on service projects from June 14-17 in the local area. They will be housed during their stay at Cardinal Stritch High School and Kateri Catholic Academy, which is located on the campus of Cardinal Stritch.
The students will be working on projects such as painting, yard work, cleaning, general home repairs and interacting with children at local daycare centers in low-income communities. They will also be involved in food distribution, homeless shelters and outreach centers. The students are working on these projects to improve the community and revitalize homes for the elderly, disabled and those who can’t afford needed repairs.
The goal of the CHWC is to inspire participants to serve in their local communities and to live out their faith. According to the Toledo Camp Manager Bryce Roberts, “CHWC is a great opportunity for teens around the country to say yes to the call to service.â€
The CHWC began in 1993 in Florida with only 100 campers under the direction of Steve and Lisa Walker. Today, the program has grown to include more than 10,000 campers in 42 cities across the United States.
For more information please contact Bryce Roberts, Camp Manager of the Toledo location, at 419-345-6498.
