Diocese Celebrates 100 Years with Foundation Day Mass

DIOCESE CELEBRATES 100 YEARS WITH FOUNDATION DAY MASS

Toledo, Ohio – April 13 – A Foundation Day Mass will mark the 100th anniversary of the Diocese of Toledo on April 15, 2010 at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo at 2:00 p.m. Bishop Leonard P. Blair will be the principal celebrant for the Mass. The priests of the diocese and several Archbishops and Bishops from across the country will concelebrant the Mass. His Eminence Adam Cardinal Maida, the Archbishop Emeritus of Detroit will also be in attendance for the Mass.

Attending the Foundation Day Mass are representatives of the religious orders and their sponsored institutions in the diocese, ecumenical and inter-religious guests, political leaders, and representatives from the 128 parishes in the Diocese. The Mass will also feature the Toledo Diocesan Choir, the Central Catholic High School Gospel Choir, the Glass City Brass Ensemble and the Saint Joan of Arc Handbell Choir.

The Mass will be available to view via a live stream provided by Toledo Central Catholic High School’s student studio. A link for the streaming video will be available on the front page of the dioceses’ website, www.toledodiocese.org.

The Diocesan centenary celebration began on October 7, 2009 with the Season of Preparation. The Foundation Day Mass marks the beginning of the Season of Celebration, and the Season of Recommitment begins on October 8, 2010 with the centenary celebration concluding on April 15, 2011.
