Service of Prayer Celebrates Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010


Toledo, OH - As the diocese celebrates its 100th year, Bishop Leonard Blair and other Christian leaders from northwest Ohio will offer a Service of Prayer celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2010 at 4:30 pm January 17 at St. Francis de Sales Chapel, 501 Cherry St. in Toledo. St. Francis de Sales Chapel holds the distinction of Proto-Cathedral, the first cathedral in the diocese. Celebrant Bishop Blair will be joined by:

  • Bishop Marcus Lohrmann, Bishop of the Northwestern Ohio Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
  • Reverend Rebecca Tollefson, Executive Director, Ohio Council of Churches
  • Father Aristotle Damaskos, Pastor, Holy Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Toledo
  • Reverend Marla Brown, Superintendent, Maumee Watershed District, West Ohio Conference, United Methodist Church
  • Reverend James Peiffer, Diocesan Ecumenical Officer, Catholic Diocese of Toledo
  • Pastor Keith Hunsinger, Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor,
  • Reverend Daniel Busch, Association Minister, Northwestern Ohio Association, United Church of Christ
  • Reverend Stephen Anthony, Executive Director, Toledo Area Ministries

Paul Monachino, Director of Liturgical Music for the Diocese of Toledo will lead the Toledo Diocesan Choir and guest vocalists from area churches. Organist Mark Koehl, will be joined by Mary Conley-Riedy, flutist Susan Dittes and James Riedy. An informal reception open to the public will follow the prayer service.
