Local Catholic schools partnering to save money

PERRYSBURG, OH, (Toledo News Now: Mackenzie Duncan and Amanda St. Hilaire) - Local Catholic schools are working together to be more cost-effective. Pastors in northern Wood County recently announced they will share resources without consolidating.

Parents said they could not be happier. When they heard the phrases, "sharing resources" and "cost-effective" some were worried it would mean losing their schools. However, educators said that will not be the case.

As Catholic schools, like St. Rose, finish end-of-the-year activities, parents said they are happy about what is in store for next year and relieved consolidation is not one of them.

A Very Moving Senior Project at Calvert High School

crossatangleThree students at Calvert High School, Stephen Smith, Cody Behm and Alec Brickner have organized a Pro-life Week for their Senior Project. To raise awareness for this they have set up 4,000 crosses in the front yard of the school. They made the crosses from paint stir sticks donated by the local Ace Hardware and Sherwin-Williams.  This creates quite a moving visual reality of the 4,000 babies aborted each day in the U.S.  According to Patty Hayes, Calvert High School's Religion Teacher, "I am proud of all my senior's projects, however I must say this one has been very moving."
