The following is information about a service opportunity the Youth, Young adult and Campus Ministry Office received from the Ukrainian Catholic University located in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Western Ukraine.

“Help Rebuild the Church in Eastern Europe:  Teach English in Ukraine”

The University invites young adults to come to Ukraine to teach English from July 3 – 28, 2008.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a cross-cultural exchange.  Volunteers experience the Eastern Christian spirituality of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, including participation in Divine Liturgy and other prayer services, meeting and talking with Eastern Catholic priests, seminarians, religious and laity, and learning about the witness of the Underground Church during the Communist oppression.

Volunteers will teach English at a summer immersion experience aimed at supplementing Ukrainian students.  There is an initial orientation program to prepare volunteers.

There is no charge for the program.  Volunteers are responsible for travel costs and the University covers all the costs of living expenses while in Ukraine.
