Diocese Announces Personnel Appointments Print E-mail


January 5, 2006 – Toledo, OH –Bishop Leonard P. Blair announces the following personnel appointments:
 
Reverend Marvin G. Borger to the Office of Chancellor. The Very Reverend Michael R. Billian who previously held this position will continue on in the offices of Episcopal Vicar and Moderator of the Curia. 
 
As Chancellor, Father Borger sees to the care of the official records of the diocese. Father Borger has served as a judge on the Diocesan Tribunal and will continue to do so in his new position. Prior to his appointment as Chancellor, Father Borger served as a U. S. Navy Chaplain, completing duty assignments in Bahrain and most recently, on board the USS Saipan.  Father Borger holds a degree in canon law from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
 
As Episcopal Vicar, Father Billian will continue to represent the Bishop in an administrative function, and as Moderator of the Curia will coordinate the ministries and activities of diocesan departments, offices and agencies. 
 
In other appointments, Deacon Edward Gryczewski has been granted senior status effective December 7, 2005, and Deacon George Miller was assigned to St. Patrick, Bascom and St. Andrew, Liberty, effective December 8, 2005.
 
The Diocese of Toledo, established April 15, 1910 encompasses 8222 square miles in a mixture of urban and rural areas that spans 19 counties across Northwest Ohio, serving 309,828 Catholics. The diocese includes Allen, Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood and Wyandot counties.
