CYO CELEBRATES MASS FOR FALL ATHLETES
August 31, 2007 – Toledo, OH – The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of the Diocese of Toledo will hold a special Mass at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral on Wednesday, September 5 at 6:30 pm for Junior High Fall athletes. Bishop Leonard P. Blair will celebrate the Mass.
Started in 1996, the CYO Fall Sports Mass is held every year prior to the fall season as a way to “kick-off” the CYO season and school year. During the Mass a participant from each CYO Fall sport (cheerleading, cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball) will place a symbol of their sport on the altar along with a coach who will present the CYO Coaches Code of Ethics signed by all CYO coaches. Athletes, parents and members of the community are invited to attend the Mass to celebrate their faith and the witness of that faith through CYO athletics.
