DIOCESE CELEBRATES WHITE MASS TO HONOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS October 14, 2008 – Toledo, OH – The Diocese of Toledo will host a White Mass on Sunday, October 19th at 11am at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral to honor those who serve our local community in the health care profession. Bishop Leonard P. Blair will celebrate the Mass. Traditionally celebrated on or near the Feast of St. Luke, the White Mass is called so because health care workers traditionally wear white coats. White is also a symbol in the Church of hope and comfort to the ill and hospitalized The Mass is the introductory event for the Northwest Ohio Guild of the Catholic Medical Association (NWO Guild). At the end of Mass Bishop Blair will offer a blessing over all health care professionals. Following the Mass, a light reception sponsored by the NWO Guild, the National Catholic Medical Students Association, Mercy Health Partners and the University of Toledo College of Medicine’s Catholic Medical Students will be held for all those in attendance and their families. Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral is located at 2535 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo 43610. For more information, contact Dr. Jeanne Weisenburger at
